Anima: The Digital zoo \ UI/UX Design
Anima is an interactive online encyclopedia that takes users of all ages on an expedition of our wild world of animals. Learn about your favorite animals, discover unique adaptations, explore conservation efforts, and most importantly, have fun!
The zoo used to be my favorite place to visit when I was a kid. As I got older, I learnt more about the living conditions of the animals and how some species are chosen more for popularity than for conservation efforts. Zoos are critical for conservation education and providing a safe place for endangered animals. However, zoos are often put in positions where they are forced to prioritize the conservation of select animals from a lack of resources, space, and competition. As a digital animal encyclopedia, Anima aims to bridge the gap between zoos and conservation by creating a platform where users can discover the amazing animals our world has to offer with the same excitement they would experience at a zoo.

The Gallery
This design concept was my capstone project. My final project was displayed in a gallery I designed and set up.

My Design Process
I started my design process by brainstorming all of the different ways I can combine the experience of the zoo into an online space. From there, I listed out a few different options and finally picked an online encyclopedia. I did hours of research on encyclopedias and zoos, finding out what is more popular and why. Once I figured out the who, what, and why of my project I could begin the design process of wireframing and concept building. Since this was a UI/UX design I conducted user research halfway and at the end of the project.
